Nowadays. for the manufacturing of UHF RFID inlay, the most typical way is to attach aluminum foil to transparent PET film (Polyethylene Terephthalate) through an etching process. This forms the antenna. And then the chip is bonded with the antenna to become a RFID inlay with read and write capability through radio frequency transmission.
This is called a Dry Inlay.
Since dry inlay itself is just a thin plastic film. it is difficult to attach it to other objects. Therefore, normally pressure sensitive adhesive will be added to the dry inlay to serve the purpose of attaching the inlay to other objects.
This is called a Wet Inlay.
Applications: tickets, hangtags, stickers and paper boxes etc.
